Free Online Chess Clock
This chess clock gives each player their own countdown timer. Tap the button after your move to stop your clock and start your opponent's. Works for blitz (3–5 min), rapid (10–15 min), and classical (30+ min) games.
How to use the chess clock
Choose a time control from the presets above or enter a custom number of minutes. Press Start to begin Player 1's clock. After each move, tap your own player panel — it stops your clock and starts your opponent's. The panel lights up gold to show whose turn it is. The clock locks when either player runs out of time.
Time controls explained
Blitz chess uses 3 to 5 minutes per player. Rapid games typically use 10 to 15 minutes. Classical tournament chess starts at 30 minutes per player and can go much longer. For casual play, 5 or 10 minutes is the most common choice. The chess clock on this page works for all formats and is fully optimized for mobile — just place your phone between two players on a table.
